This is a private 1 on 1 mentorship where you and I will get together once a week to assess your strengths, your weaknesses, and everything in between. Goal-focused on crafting stellar work for your ever-evolving portfolio.
This is a 6-week private mentorship where we will embark on a journey that covers design, lighting, rendering, storytelling, value, color, composition, framing, mood, effects, and more. Students can also ask industry-related questions during our sessions.
This mentorship is tailored specifically for you. There are many areas of focus I offer, such as concept art, key art, illustration, character design, environment design, poster/cover art and more. A generalized approach guided by the instructor is also available.
Each week, student and instructor will meet for their agreed 1-hour session. During that time, I will provide feedback and paint-overs to the student’s homework. A mid-week WIP review (offline) will also be available.
Half of the 1-hour session will be comprised of a lecture and live demo from myself. This will help students see firsthand how I tackle issues, allow them to ask questions, and witness the creation of a relative piece from start to finish.
Yes! If near the end of the 6-week course, you would like to continue your mentorship further, you may add up to 3 additional weeks at a discounted rate. (Pending instructor's availability.)
Your ticket to securing dream projects and displaying your creative ability is with a well-rounded portfolio. This collection of your best work may open opportunities in the gaming, film, and other creative industries. Strategic thinking, artistic skills, and a great eye for presentation are all necessary for crafting an amazing portfolio. Hire a Illustration mentor to create a unique concept artist portfolio.
The finest pieces in your concept artist portfolio should be shown. More important than quantity is quality. Show flexibility by including several styles and subjects. Your ability to visually communicate concepts should be highlighted in each piece, which should also tell a story. Achieve a cohesive but varied collection that expresses your unique artistic voice.
A concept artist's portfolio should be varied. Employers and clients demand flexibility. Add environments, props, character designs, and creatures in a mix. Try several approaches, including digital painting, photo bashing, sketches, and 3D modeling.
As crucial as the finished product itself can be showcasing your creative process. Show your workflow with pieces of work-in-progress (WIP). This helps you to better understand your capacity for solving problems and your process of developing ideas. Initial sketches, thumbnails, and step-by-step progress images can all be included in WIP pieces. They show how committed you are to improving your work and achieving the greatest outcomes.
Match your artwork to quick descriptions. Describe the background, the issue you were trying to solve, and the solutions you used. This story gives your portfolio more complexity and clarifies your approach to thinking for viewers. Additionally, it emphasizes your communication abilities, which are essential in teamwork environments.
To showcase your most recent and best work, update your portfolio frequently. It may appear that you are not actively working on your craft if your portfolio is outdated. Establish a schedule for periodic portfolio review and updating. Take out any older pieces that don't reflect your current artistic skill level.
Reaching a larger audience calls for both a professional online presence and hosting your portfolio, creating a website or using one of several platforms. Make sure your online portfolio appeals visually and is easy to navigate. Add links to your social media profiles and contact information. An online portfolio kept in good condition raises your accessibility and profile.
A big difference can be made by tailoring your portfolio to various opportunities. If you are submitting a portfolio to a client or applying for a particular job, emphasize pertinent work. Stress pieces that fit the requirements and style of the project. This tailored strategy shows you have done your homework and are really interested in the opportunity.
Your portfolio will be much improved by constructive criticism. Make sure to share your work with other professionals, mentors, and peers in the industry. Be willing to modify and pay attention to their suggestions. Iterating in response to comments guarantees that your portfolio satisfies industry standards and helps it to be improved. A committed and professional artist's hallmark is constant improvement.
Creating a concept artist portfolio calls for constant work and careful curation. Your greatest work, variety, creative process explanation, and professional online presence can help you build an interesting portfolio. Your portfolio's impact is further increased by customizing it for particular opportunities and getting feedback. You may establish yourself as a professional and adaptable concept artist by creating a well-crafted portfolio that can open doors to exciting opportunities.
